Carly Benton

Executive Director

About:  A native of Toombs County, Carly attended Vidalia High School and then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Valdosta State University earning a B.A. in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. She has four years of experience in healthcare, three of which were spent as an Information Technology Auditor specializing in HIPAA Security/Privacy compliance and data security. Carly is married to Connection Church Dublin Pastor, Bradley Benton (of Toombs County), and has one little girl, a newborn son, and two adopted teenage boys.

 

Loves:  Jesus Christ, coffee, hosting small group Bible study and meals for friends, singing in the praise band at Connection Church, listening to leadership podcasts, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and planning family mini-vacays!

 

Why Mercy?  "I love being able to come to work and talk about Jesus. Even more importantly, I have a passion for 'raising the lid' on people's lives and we do that every day at Mercy through the opportunities we offer people for spiritual, emotional, financial and physical growth."

STAFF  (Lyons, GA - Main Campus)

About:  A native of Emanuel County, Clint has been married to Candace Hutcheson for the past 23 years. Together they have 2 daughters. Clint has pastored the Vidalia Advent Christian Church since 2002. He volunteers with the Vidalia School System & Family Connection to reach the next generation. He has served 2-terms as the Advent Christian Conference President, as Camp Director at Camp Georgolina, as a participant and later coach of the Toombs-Montgomery Leadership Class, as an officer of the Toombs Area Ministerial Association, and as a certified instructor for the Chalmer's Center.  To top all of that, he's continuing his education at Berkshire Christian College.

 

Loves:  Enjoys knapping, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, great food, restoring anything broken, reading and learning new things.

 

Why Mercy?  "I love seeing people overcome obstacles and break free from whatever is trapping them. Helping individuals see the amazing freedom offered through Christ is why I look forward to coming to work."

Clint Hutcheson

Pastor of The Mercy Ministries & Director of Mercy University

About:  A native of Toombs county, Sissy graduated from Vidalia High School and Swainsboro Technical College. She has 25+ years in healthcare, 18 years with GI nursing (Certified GI Special Assistant), and seven years with Internal Medicine and Orthopedics. Sissy is married to Gregg Warnock, the facility director at Meadows Regional Medical Center, is the mother of 2 children, 1 step-son, and is a proud grandmother of 3 beautiful grandchildren. 

 

Loves:  Her first love is Jesus Christ, and she loves spending time with her grandchildren, family, and close friends.  She also enjoys studying the Bible and drinking coffee.

 

Why Mercy?  "I Love coming to work every day knowing that I can pray with our patients and that in some small way we are helping make our community a better place. I love the fact when people show up at our door that I don't have to tell them we cannot help them that we invite them in and do everything possible to encourage them, love them and help them find a pathway out of whatever situation they may find themselves in."

About:  Currently a native of Toombs County, Hazel is a proud wife, mother of two boys, and grandmother of four.  She serves as The Mercy Ministries’ main provider of medical services.  She is board certified through ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She spend 25 years specializing in caring for patients with HIV, and came to Mercy five years ago, transitioning into Primary Care. 

 

Loves:  Hazel loves yard sales, flea markets, teaching Sunday school at Vidalia Church of God, and enjoying her Senior Group at church.

 

Why Mercy?  “It is so rewarding to be able to encourage and offer services to those who need us here at Mercy.”

About:  Jessica grew up in Montgomery County and graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 2003.  She later moved to Toombs County, where she now lives with her husband, Gordy, in the Johnson Corner community.  She is also a busy mother of 3 beautiful girls! 

 

Loves:  Jesus Christ, family gatherings, photography, singing, and great Mexican food!  Jessica also loves being a part of the cast from “Tales of the Altamaha” a local community event in Lyons, Ga.

Why Mercy?  “When I was a little girl my grandmother said very often that GOD IS LOVE.  I never truly knew the meaning of that phrase until I became a part of The Mercy Ministries family.  God’s unconditional love is shared with every person that walks through our doors, and being a part of this has transformed my heart forever!”

About:  Jennifer, a life-long resident of Lyons, graduated Toombs County High School. She then attended MIddle Georgia College, and now she is studying Human Resource Management at Southeaster Technical College of Vidalia.  

Loves:  Jennifer's loves include volunteering, reading, writing, and especially her two children, ages ten and twelve.  In the past she volunteered with the art mentorship program for 6th-12th grade girls at her church, Becoming One Outreach Ministries (BOOM) in Vidalia.

Why Mercy?  “I love serving others and seeing people smile.  When I think of Mercy, I think of God and how He, at some point, has given us all a second chance.  I see TMM as another chance being given, not only to myself [in this new job], but to all patients.  Coming to Mercy is another gift God has blessed me with!”

About:  Minnie is a retired nursing home administrator with two sons, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  They all live near her small farm in Normantown, and she loves that she gets to see them often!

Loves:  Minnie enjoys yard work, gardening, walking, dancing, singing along with the radio, and spending time with her family.  She is a member of Vidalia Church of God, and is active in several church functions, such as serving on the church's financial committee.

Why Mercy?  “I believe God brought me to The Mercy Ministries.  I retired about three years ago and Hazel Mead suggested I volunteer at Mercy.  I began later that year in the medication room.  After a couple of months Dr. Nancy Stanley asked me if I would be interested in a part-time job as the M.A.P. Room Coordinator.  I enjoy helping people and I love interacting and becoming familiar with the patients.  I feel I have become friend with our patients because I take an interest in their lives, not just their problems.  I hope to continue working and volunteering here at mercy for a long time to come!”

About:  Dalila is an Honor Graduate from Wheeler County High School, Alamo, Ga. She attended Horizon Medical Training Center where she became a Certified Medical Assistant.  Dalila is a wife and a mother of two lovely children.

Loves:  She enjoys being with her family, friends and love ones. She loves to eat and have fun with any activity that is put in front of her.  She always has a big smile on her face!

About:  Diane is a Tarrytown native and a graduate of Treutlen County High School.  She has been married for 32 years and has two children.  After attending Middle Georgia College and Brewton-Parker College, she graduated as a Dental Hygienist from Armstrong Atlantic State University.  Of her sixteen years in dentistry, the last three have been spent at the Compassionate Care Dental Clinic.

Loves:  Diane is a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, and she enjoys embroidering, sewing, spending time with her family, riding her ATV, and traveling!

NOW HIRING:  Director of Development & Marketing

The Development Director is charged with developing relationships and connections with donors that understand the importance of capacity building.   The specific responsibilities include developing, cultivating and maturing relationships that lead to the funding of TMM’s operating budget. The core objective is to maintain current donor participation while growing a broader network of donors to establish long-term sustainability. In addition to office-based work, the Development Director will serve in an outreach/public affairs role to increase general public awareness of TMM and strengthen community relations.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Development/Fundraising (60%)

  • Oversees the fundraising arm of the mercy ministries. Ensure that we are following the correct model and approach to our donors and lead the plan for how we maintain our donor relationships.

  • Serves as the Team Leader for the Benevon Team. The Team Leader’s responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating the organization’s implementation of the Benevon Model

    • Managing the team to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks

    • Ensuring that all data is captured in the database tracking system

    • Personally taking on or delegating all tasks needed to fulfill each element of the Benevon implementation plan

    • Recruiting and grooming the next Team Leader, when the time comes

  • Develop and manage the implementation of the annual, year-end campaign

 

Marketing & Public Relations (20%)

  • Develop and secure marketing materials that will promote the mission and “tell the story” of how TMM is transforming our community

  • Maintain and develop all TMM social media accounts to increase public awareness of the organization and quickly distribute important/time-sensitive information and generate reports (as needed) to show the effectiveness of these outlets and any trends over time

  • Maintain and develop TMM’s website with up-to-date information regarding the organization’s services, upcoming events, forms, job openings, donation options, patient testimony videos, etc.

  • Build community relations and increase public awareness of TMM by participating in community networking events and social functions (i.e. Chamber events, United Way events, etc.)

  • Manage all paid advertisements and/or contracts related to the development of marketing materials (i.e. videography)

 

Management & Strategic Planning (10%)

  • Participate in the ongoing strategic planning of the organization for ministry advancement

  • Lead weekly fundraising meetings

  • Maintain an electronic donor database, oversee all data entry and cleanup of the database, and generate/create reports from the database as required to execute donor cultivation plans and measure Benevon outcomes

  • Provide monthly report for board meetings to update the Board on Benevon implementation/fundraising progress and provide training to the board for supporting the sustainable funding plan

 

Programs / Training (10%)

  • Participate in learning modules and efforts to increase knowledge of subjects related to this job position (i.e. Bloomerang webinars, Benevon webinars, Movie Monday videos, etc.)

  • Increase personal knowledge and awareness of non-profit best practices

  • Prepare presentations related to development/fundraising as needed for board and/or staff training


OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

  • Keep your work area tidy and help clean patient areas as assigned

  • Participate in the meal rotation for staff meetings, providing a meal for the group at least once a year

  • Attend and engage in staff meetings and ministry area meetings

  • Constantly assess your position’s processes and procedures and think into how they can be improved

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

BA or BS from an accredited university - Required

Computer skills - Required

Customer Relations -Required

Organizational skills - Required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Required

Training in fundraising and event planning- Preferred

Experience in a ministry/non-profit work - Preferred

HIPPA- A knowledge and understanding of HIPPA is required and a statement of HIPPA regulation understanding will be signed and filed.

 

COMPENSATION:

The hourly wage is approx. $18.00 (depending on experience) for 32 hours per week.

 

WORK SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:

Work schedule expectations include a part-time 32 hours per week which may include special meetings, travel and attendance to work-related conferences, training, and events.  The Mercy Ministries expects that all employees arrive on time.  If an employee must be tardy or absent, notification to his/her Ministry Area Coordinator should be made prior to any missed time. This position reports to the Development Director.

 

The Mercy Ministries expects that all employees be dressed in business casual attire or a TMM shirt with khaki or black pants.  Clinical employees may wear scrubs.  This position will be the front line for all patrons entering our organization. Pleasant appearance, professionalism and a friendly personality will be expected at all times.

 

This position will be privileged to very important organizational information and will be expected to uphold the upmost confidentiality with any information obtained at all times.

 

STANDARDS OF CONDUCT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Employees are required to follow organizational policy and departmental procedures at all times. You are charged with the responsibility to uphold the mission and core values and ethics of the mercy ministries. The job description is not intended to be all inclusive.
