UPDATE: Mercy Dental Clinic

August 10, 2017

The Mercy Ministries is so happy to be entering a new phase of more personalized care for our patients by launching Mercy Dental Clinic September 2017!  Our purpose is to provide basic dental care to Mercy Medical Clinic patients to increase oral health, helping our patients better manage their poly-chronic diseases, and thus increasing overall wellness.

This level of care would not be possible without our faithful donors like YOU, and the help of our new volunteer dental director, Dr. Mosley of Vidalia, who has generously donated some of the much needed dental equipment!

Darren, pictured below, came in with teeth worn down to the gum. Now, with his restored smile, he'll have a chance at better job opportunities.  His confidence has been restored, and he couldn't be more proud to be showing off his new smile!

We are so excited about the changes to come, and we have laid out some goals and objectives to keep us on task, and help us provide our patients with optimum care...

Mercy Dental Clinic Goals:

  • Provide basic dental care 2 days a week at Mercy Dental Clinic

  • Engage at least 4 volunteer dentists from the community to provide 8 hours of dental services a month at Mercy Dental Clinic

  • Engage at least 4 volunteer dental assistants and/or hygienists to assist the volunteer dentists and Mercy Dental Clinic’s staff hygienist

  • Provide preventative care and oral health education to all Mercy Medical Clinic patients

  • Increase access to local dentists for dental emergencies

Mercy Dental Clinic Objectives:

  • Decrease the intake time (length between referral and initial oral exam) for new dental patients by 50% from 6 months to 3 months or less

  • Decrease the periodontal disease measurements for applicable patients

  • Decrease the A1C numbers for diabetic patients

  • Decrease the use of the hospital (i.e. ED visits) for dental issues

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

1.  Our greatest need is to have people like you to agree to be Volunteer Ambassadors for TMM.  What does am Ambassador do?  You simply invite 10-15 friends, family members or colleagues to a "60 Minutes With Mercy" one-hour tour scheduled at your convenience Mon-Thurs.

This is simply an educational and informational tour designed to spread awareness about TMM.

You and your guests will NOT be asked to make a donation!

If you would like to attend a tour on your own, simply visit our Event Calendar for tour times you can drop-in on anytime!

For more information about this, contact Casey Hutcheson 912-524-4000.

2.  We need donations to purchase more dental equipment.  You can make a one time donation here or contact Carly Benton 912-524-4000 to join Mercy's Giving Society, which includes members of the community who have pledged to donate a certain $ amount each year for five years.  We are currently maxed out at about 500 patients.  We'd love to be able to take care of more!

(There are potentially 3,000 patients in Toombs County alone who do not qualify for government assistance! They need our help, and an opportunity to have Christ's love shared with them!)
