God Is Love

"God is love..." she says as she shares her story at a "60 Minutes With Mercy" Tour of how

The Mercy Ministries has changed her life. Who is she?  She is Jessica Thursby, the Volunteer Coordinator for all the many people who come to share their time and love with the patients of the Mercy Medical Clinic, Mercy Dental Clinic, and Mercy University.

This month of September The Mercy Ministries would like to ask you to join us in sharing His love with Toombs County and surrounding areas by participating in a "60 Minutes With Mercy" Tour here at our main facility in Lyons, Ga.

During a tour, we begin in our large conference room where you'll get an introduction to the ministry by Mercy's Executive Director, Carly Benton, and then be shown the kitchen where we have family style meals and from where we feed our Mercy University students.

Next, as the tour is led by Mercy's Development Director, Casey Hutcheson, you get to see our counseling room and our volunteer stations before being escorted to the Medical Clinic where you get to see and participate in celebrating our patients' Win Wall as Sissy Warnock, Clinic Coordinator, shares with you some of the miraculous God-stories that come out of the clinic each week!

The middle of the tour takes you to our lobby, where we have devotion and prayer each morning at 8:30 am Monday - Thursday, inviting anyone who is there, including patients, volunteers and staff, to join along with us.

Finally, to round out the hour, you'll come back to the large conference room where Clint Hutcheson, Mercy University's Director, will share with you about how Mercy University is helping to stomp out poverty in our community.

The best part of this tour? You get to hear no less than four patient testimonies of people who's lives have been changed by The Mercy Ministries!

For example,  one of our Hispanic patients, Jesus, had his legs amputated, and found hope and healing at The Mercy Ministries. We were able to get him treatment, classes on how to manage his diabetes, and prosthetic legs! But, his story didn't end there.

A couple of years later, another young man, Lewis, came in very hopeless and discouraged about having to have one of his legs amputated. Jesus, having been shown love by Mercy, paid it forward and encouraged Lewis in the hope offered by Jesus Christ. The young man was positively impacted by Jesus' joy, and he is now helping to raise his three-year-old granddaughter as he waits for his own prosthetic leg. Ultimately, his family, his children, his granddaughter and the community around him will be impacted for the better because Mercy simply created an environment for love, healing and hope to be shared!

Yes, this September and October, we're celebrating GOD IS LOVE!

Our greatest need continues to be the need to spread awareness to the community about what we offer, and to educate about how we are putting God's love in action!
