Those of us here at The Mercy Ministries (TMM) have found ourselves being VERY THANKFUL for our FAITHFUL donors, but also for our very special volunteers and board members. We simply could not do what we do without our 30+ volunteers (who put in over 2000 volunteer hours so far in 2018!) and our board members who give up their free time to advise and direct the ministry in a healthy direction of growth and opportunity.
Sadly, this year, we had to say goodbye to six of our board members, some of them having served seven long years! Dr. Geoff Connor, co-founder of TMM, and his lovely wife, Jill, hosts this party for Mercy each year, and we're so very grateful. They serve up delicious food, provide a beautiful holiday atmosphere and even let us stick around late to play some festive games! It's the perfect time and place to let all of our volunteers know how precious they are to the mission of TMM.
The departing board members were recognized publicly at the party Thursday, December 13th.
Those recognized (in attendance):
-- Mr. Joey Carpenter --
-- Judge Sherri McDonald --
-- Milly Kennedy --
Those recognized (not in attendance):
-- Gwynn Colvin --
-- Dale Clark --
-- Courtney Joiner-Anderson --
Dr. Connor's party also celebrated TMM's tremendous successes as Carly Benton, Executive Director of TMM, shared the accomplishments of the ministry, as well as the vision for the ministry for 2019.
Clint Hutcheson, Director of Mercy University, reminded those in attendance ... which included Mercy staff members, board members, volunteers, and NEW Mercy Giving Society members ... of how we are all making a lasting difference in our community. No less than 507 families have been greatly impacted by TMM in 2018, leaving over 1400 people healthier and touched by Jesus Christ's love this year!
Mercy staff and volunteers also had a fun time celebrating at the home of Milly Kennedy Tuesday, December 11th. Mrs. Kennedy wanted to bless the staff and volunteers with a thank-you luncheon and individual gifts for all the hard work that was accomplished in 2018, and she also invited pastor's wife, Diane Smith of First United Methodist Church in Vidalia, to share an encouraging word about the importance of Christ-like "compassion" with those in attendance. Everyone shared a delicious meal, sang Christmas carols and laughed a lot together before returning to work. We hope Mrs. Kennedy will be a part of TMM for a long time to come, even though her time has come to give up her seat on the Mercy Board!
Enjoy the photos from each of the gatherings,
and have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
