Did you know it costs about $96,000 to cure a patient of the Hep C virus? Did you know if it's not treated within a certain time frame, it can do irreparable damage to the liver?
Low-income, uninsured patients with Hep C have limited resources, but there are resources available. The Mercy Ministries (TMM), utilizing wonderful Mercy Volunteers, does everything it can to help Hep C patients get treatment so they can move forward in life before real damage is done to their liver.
So, what is today's outlook on the treatment of Hep C and the prognosis for patients in America? Read here to learn more.
Mercy Patient Testimony: A Life Changed!
After years of manual labor, Mr. Beverly came to TMM seeking relief from his severe shoulder pain. He came looking for temporary relief and received a miracle instead.
You see, Mercy learned that Beverly also suffered from Hepatitis C, a disease that he’d been living with for 30 years. Why?
The 3- month treatment for Hep C costs $96,000 without insurance, and he couldn’t even afford insurance. But THANKS TO MERCY'S FAITHFUL DONORS, VOLUNTEERS and TMM’s prescription assistance program, Beverly is now CURED of Hepatitis C!
“I could’ve never afforded to be treated for Hepatitis C,” Beverly said. “I couldn’t even afford insurance. I had accepted I had to live with illness. Without Mercy I don’t know what I would’ve done. The best thing about this place is the love. These people don’t have to smile or cut-up with me, but they do. (And I do try to aggravate them!) They treat me with so much kindness.”
His wife, Kelly, added, “He can’t even come in here (Mercy) without crying.”
Beverly replied through tears, “I know men are supposed to be tough, but when something like this happens, you just can’t help it. It’s such a true blessing to be here!”
