Did you know February is Heart Health Month? One of the best gifts you could give yourself today, and everyday, is to love yourself enough to take care of all aspects of your own heart. We can't pour into the lives of others if our cup is empty. Taking care of ourselves ... physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially ... is part of being good stewards of what God has given us. Why? So that we can turn around and give love to others from a full, happy heart!
The Mercy Ministries (TMM) is passionate this month, and every month, about the condition of the hearts of those who work and volunteer for the ministry, but especially for the hearts of patients in our care.
Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.
- Psalm 51:10 AMP
We recognize that when helping a person get physically better, or whole, is not enough, alone, to help that person move forward. We believe in treating the whole heart ... physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially. TMM is all about transforming hearts and lives three ways:
1. Transformation of Heart includes:
-- Being a part of Biblical community, a church family, etc. We've found patients get better and stay better when they are connected to a local group of Believers and have the support of a church family.
-- Walking in accountability with pastoral/counseling care at TMM.
-- Biblical devotion and prayer time as a daily practice.
2. Transformation of Health includes:
-- Medical care, dental care, medication assistance, and health education classes ... everything TMM does to help a patient physically move forward.
These areas of need are met by the Mercy Medical Clinic, Mercy Dental Clinic, Diabetes Education Class, Healthy Lifestyles Class and a Smoking Cessation Class.
3. Transformation of Community includes:
-- Transforming individuals and families, and the community around them, by teaching Faith & Finance classes and Work Life classes at Mercy University to help families in the community learn how to manage their money, get a job, and ultimately move forward in a healthy direction so they can give back the their community, rather than be a drain on the system.
