Purim - A Reminder To Celebrate

March 21, 2019

You may not be where you want to be in life, but you're certainly not where you used to be. That's reason to celebrate!

Plus, no matter where you are, God can use you to spread His love and truth, setting others free from the lies of the enemy that hold them back.

"Today is the Jewish Feast of Purim.

Purim is one of the most festive and joyous holidays on the Jewish calendar. The book of Esther commands that it be celebrated on the 14th and 15th days of Adar, and was to be a time of "feasting and joy, of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor" (Esther 9:22).

This holiday commemorates the victory of the Jewish people over their enemies that tried to slaughter them as a result of the decree by the Persian Prime Minister, Haman, in the book of Esther. Today the Jewish people still celebrate this festival and remember the past anti-Semitic individuals who tried to exterminate them as well as the present ones and they read the whole book of Esther."

How has God set you free today?  Do you think you could be where you are "for such a time as this" as Esther believed?

"--- love instead of fear,

trust instead of anxiety,

faith instead of doubt,

a garland instead of ashes,

the oil of gladness instead of being miserable,

the mantle of praise instead of depression"

-- G. Cooke
