I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at a little girl, and truly dedicated my life to loving Him and all His ways when I was eighteen. I had so much learning to do, though, and made so many mistakes. Learning how to walk in the nature and love of God is something we do a little more each day for the rest of our lives.
Over the years I found myself, often, in a place of just not knowing how to pray. Disappointment and hopelessness threatened to take away from me my momentum and excitement about my marriage to Jesus Christ. I was thankful to have Godly people in my life I could turn to for advice and prayer during most of these seasons. I hate to think of where I would be had I not had their wisdom! However, there were seasons where I really didn't have anyone to turn to, and I just felt bewildered.
I found having a Christian blog to read, a minister to listen to for encouragement, or even a song to listen to, helped me get through the rough times when I was feeling a little lost.
God's Word shows how King David and other great men of God stirred up the gift of God (hope) within when the most pressing circumstances were against them. They did this through prayer, praising with song and by being determined to remind themselves of how their faithful Father, Husband, Lord, Friend was so much greater than the circumstances stacked against them!
At the end of the day, it is up to ME AND YOU to stir ourselves up, encourage ourselves and remind ourselves of God's faithfulness to us. We are responsible for moving ourselves forward emotionally and spiritually. We are responsible for asking others for guidance and help when we need it. As we put forth the effort, Jesus will meet us there and help us make progress.
This belief is one of the principles inspiring me each day as I work for The Mercy Ministries! I know, through experience, if we do this daily, we will not wilt when the trials of life get hot! It's also really exciting when we get to see Mercy patients, who came into TMM
Recently, I found a blogger I love to read. I use her daily Bible study guide, Quieting Your Heart, and married or not, the prayers available on the right hand side of this page will help anyone know how to pray when feeling bewildered. (I'll also be buying her day planner when it comes out for 2020!)
Check out the Prayer Guide and The TIme Warp Wife who gives instructions on how to pray, and even how to clean your house! Sometimes, when we don't know what to do, we just need to get busy ;)
I remember once I was like "God, when are You going to move in my life to fix this situation?!!" and He was like, "Girl, if you're waiting on Me, then you're backing up! Get busy! Move. Take action!"
