Students of The Mercy Ministries' Mercy University graduated Thursday, May 30 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Vidalia's Student Center. Mercy staff, board members, volunteers and the friends and family members of the graduates shared a meal after the presentation ceremony, and munched on some very delicious, and very beautiful, graduation themed cookies that were donated by a faithful supporter of TMM.
Mike Hagan, a TMM Board Member, kicked off the ceremony by welcoming guests and opening in a word of prayer.
Next, Carly Benton, Executive Director of TMM, encouraged the graduates to move forward "doing the best you can with what you've learned, and trusting God with the rest!"
Finally, Clint Hutcheson, Director of Mercy University, presented each graduate with a certificate of class completion and gave each of them a chance to say what the class has meant to them personally.
Some of the graduates' comments:
"It's never too late to get your financial 'house' in order."
"Clint is just so enthusiastic and he shares about his experiences and we just had a ball!"
"I should've saved a lot sooner for retirement. I'm making Starbucks now at home instead of swinging by the drive-thru each morning with my 14-year-old!"
"I now think before I spend and determine if it is truly a need or just a want!"
"I learned a lot about managing my finances," exclaimed one Paul Anderson Youth Home student. "Who really thinks about that stuff until you have to? But, I feel prepared now."
TMM is very proud of every single graduate who has chosen to move forward in a healthy financial direction. A lot of people think if one has money problems, it only affects them. However, it affects the whole community when we aren't being good stewards of what God has given us. Faith & Finances classes give students the tools they need to succeed financially.
Faith & Finance classes will begin again August 5th for daytime classes and August 6th for evening classes. Contact Clint Hutcheson to sign up today. 912-524-4000
