Mercy Dental Clinic was recently blessed by the addition of volunteer dentist, Dr. Mark Oxley. We couldn't hardly wait to get to know him, and we wanted you to know him, too! Thankfully, he was willing to tell us a little about himself.
So, tell us a little about yourself ...
I was born and raised in Vidalia, the son of Matt and Lyn Oxley. I have one sibling, Walker, who recently married Katheryn Low, of Atlanta. After graduating Vidalia High School, I earned an Associate of Science Degree at Middle Georgia College. I then continued my education at Georgia Tech, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After completing four years at the Dental College of Georgia in Augusta, I was awarded a Doctorate in Medical Dentistry.
Where do you plan on being in 5-10 years?
I plan to practice in a family dental practice in Vidalia, and look forward to continuing to work at Mercy Dental.
Blacksmithing, Fishing, Fossil hunting, Gardening, Photography.
List one interesting fact about you most people wouldn't know...
While in high school, I took an extensive aptitude test, which matched me with dentistry. I would have never considered it otherwise. Even though I am just getting started, I can already tell that it is a perfect profession for me. It has been humbling and rewarding to help others in need.
How often are you volunteering with Mercy?
I am currently volunteering 2 days a week.
Why Mercy? What is it you love about volunteering with us?
Prior to starting dental school, I spent a lot of time shadowing Dr. Lloyd Darby III at the [prior] Mercy Dental Clinic. I have had the goal to come back to serve others in need. It's what I love most!
Thank you, Dr. Oxley, for all you are doing to extend a healthy hands up to those in need in 2019!
