The Development Director is charged with developing relationships and connections with donors that understand the importance of capacity building. The specific responsibilities include developing, cultivating and maturing relationships that lead to the funding of TMM’s operating budget. The core objective is to maintain current donor participation while growing a broader network of donors to establish long-term sustainability. In addition to office-based work, the Development Director will serve in an outreach/public affairs role to increase general public awareness of TMM and strengthen community relations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Oversees the fundraising arm of the mercy ministries. Ensure that we are following the correct model and approach to our donors and lead the plan for how we maintain our donor relationships.
Serves as the Team Leader for the Benevon Team. The Team Leader’s responsibilities include:
Coordinating the organization’s implementation of the Benevon Model
Managing the team to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks
Ensuring that all data is captured in the database tracking system
Personally taking on or delegating all tasks needed to fulfill each element of the Benevon implementation plan
Recruiting and grooming the next Team Leader, when the time comes
Develop and manage the implementation of the annual, year-end campaign
Marketing & Public Relations (20%)
Develop and secure marketing materials that will promote the mission and “tell the story” of how TMM is transforming our community
Maintain and develop all TMM social media accounts to increase public awareness of the organization and quickly distribute important/time-sensitive information and generate reports (as needed) to show the effectiveness of these outlets and any trends over time
Maintain and develop TMM’s website with up-to-date information regarding the organization’s services, upcoming events, forms, job openings, donation options, patient testimony videos, etc.
Build community relations and increase public awareness of TMM by participating in community networking events and social functions (i.e. Chamber events, United Way events, etc.)
Manage all paid advertisements and/or contracts related to the development of marketing materials (i.e. videography)
Management & Strategic Planning (10%)
Participate in the ongoing strategic planning of the organization for ministry advancement
Lead weekly fundraising meetings
Maintain an electronic donor database, oversee all data entry and cleanup of the database, and generate/create reports from the database as required to execute donor cultivation plans and measure Benevon outcomes
Provide monthly report for board meetings to update the Board on Benevon implementation/fundraising progress and provide training to the board for supporting the sustainable funding plan
Programs / Training (10%)
Participate in learning modules and efforts to increase knowledge of subjects related to this job position (i.e. Bloomerang webinars, Benevon webinars, Movie Monday videos, etc.)
Increase personal knowledge and awareness of non-profit best practices
Prepare presentations related to development/fundraising as needed for board and/or staff training
Keep your work area tidy and help clean patient areas as assigned
Participate in the meal rotation for staff meetings, providing a meal for the group at least once a year
Attend and engage in staff meetings and ministry area meetings
Constantly assess your position’s processes and procedures and think into how they can be improved
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
BA or BS from an accredited university - Required
Computer skills - Required
Customer Relations -Required
Organizational skills - Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Required
Training in fundraising and event planning- Preferred
Experience in a ministry/non-profit work - Preferred
HIPPA- A knowledge and understanding of HIPPA is required and a statement of HIPPA regulation understanding will be signed and filed.
The hourly wage is approx. $18.00, depending upon experience, for 32 hours per week.
WORK SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS:
Work schedule expectations include a part-time 32 hours per week which may include special meetings, travel and attendance to work-related conferences, training, and events. The Mercy Ministries expects that all employees arrive on time. If an employee must be tardy or absent, notification to his/her Ministry Area Coordinator should be made prior to any missed time. This position reports to the Development Director.
The Mercy Ministries expects that all employees be dressed in business casual attire or a TMM shirt with khaki or black pants. Clinical employees may wear scrubs. This position will be the front line for all patrons entering our organization. Pleasant appearance, professionalism and a friendly personality will be expected at all times.
This position will be privileged to very important organizational information and will be expected to uphold the upmost confidentiality with any information obtained at all times.
STANDARDS OF CONDUCT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employees are required to follow organizational policy and departmental procedures at all times. You are charged with the responsibility to uphold the mission and core values and ethics of the mercy ministries. The job description is not intended to be all inclusive.
